Texas Double Bass Academy

In the spring of 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic forced teachers and students around the globe to adjust to online teaching and learning. A long-standing discussion group of well-known double bass pedagogues from around Texas saw the possibilities of this new reality for learning opportunities that were not previously realistic. The Texas Double Bass Academy was born. Focused initially on leveraging online learning opportunities, TDBA is now focused on in-person events that fill unmet needs in the double bass and string teaching community.

Organized by Andrew Goins and Bob Simmons, teachers and freelance bassists in the DFW area, TDBA is working to build the bass community among pre-college double bass students, and to educate string teachers on bass pedagogy. Learning opportunities include workshops, masterclasses, and professional development for teachers.
